Namamasko Po!
Come on, I understand that you people like giving and/or receiving gifts. Although I believe most people prefer the latter. I fully understand the essence of giving is doubled, or maybe even tripled, during the Yuletide season. I just hate that people abuse it.
Here in our subdivision, kids go from house to house saying “Namamasko Po!”, or, in better terms, the kids are asking for little gifts or a measly amount of cash just to satisfy themselves and to further promote the “spirit of giving.”
I am, by all means, willing to give gifts since it’s Christmas. But, I don’t give gifts to strangers. Why would I? I haven’t even seen the kids on our front doors at least once roaming the subdivision. Also, they’re making it a yearly business. I was raised in a way that I don’t ask for gifts during this season. Of course I expect gifts… but I don’t ask for them. Nor do I hunt for my godparents for my aguinaldo (monetary gift).
But these kids… I think they have become accustomed to yelling behind people’s gates asking for Christmas presents. And I am not liking one bit of it. Why would I give them gifts when I don’t even know them?
