Too much crime for one day.

I went to SM Baguio with my bandmate to buy groceries. After buying groceries, we walked down Session Road to go to our terminals.

Halfway through Session Road, we saw a guy wearing a black leather jacket acting suspiciously. He kept on rummaging through his jacket and acting of fixing it. Occasionally, he would go near a woman and try to get the woman’s wallet from her bag. We noticed his act. He noticed us watching him too. Me and my bandmate were asking each other what we would do. One time, I caught the guy in the act of putting his hand inside of the woman’s bag. Coincidentally, a car blocked our view of him. We were left wondering whether the woman lost her wallet or if the pickpocket failed.

We saw a crime and we did nothing. I actually feel bad. Seriously.

Then we continued to walk. I saw a man guiding one of the blind beggars into crossing the road. Soon after, there were three men with the pair. I realized they were part of the syndicate that exploits old and blind people into getting alms. Again, another crime passed and I was nothing but a mute witness.

I think I’ve seen too much crime in one day. Because of that, I don’t think I’ll be walking down Session Road for a few days.

And I don’t know what people like me, who witness these crimes go on, think of themselves. I don’t know if they feel as guilty as I do or if they feel that this is just a bad day for the victims.
